[Forgiveness, what do you have to say today?]
I’d like to begin by saying thank you for taking some time to speak to me, and letting me express myself on paper for a change. Computer screen, paper, whatever, please don’t let’s get pedantic already, I’m only one sentence in.
So anyway, I think this is possibly the first ever time you’ve asked me to express myself so thank you for the privilege.
First things first, I’m not your average emotion. Well, I’m not an emotion at all. I’m just something that you need to do. A lot of. But you already know that. Kind of.

What is writing?
Can we write one word at a time without ‘thinking’ them?
Just let each word flow out of us like water over the edge of a cliff.
Each word transforming to reality in the moment.

You wake up in the morning and get out of yourself, then visit the bathroom to get rid of some of yourself into yourself and brush yourself off your teeth using yourself.
For breakfast, you prepare yourself using yourself then eat yourself off yourself. Maybe you enjoy a nice steaming drink of yourself out of yourself too. Yum!

My heart was racing. I was starting to panic. Less than thirty minutes until I had to set off for my Toastmasters meeting and I was only just finishing my speech prep.
I ran through my intro a few more times. What if I get up there and forget it all?! What if I mess up the ending?! The last thing I want is everyone pitying my appalling first effort.

I love to hear other people’s stories, so today I’m speaking with the delightful Kate Evans of Another Cuppa about comfort zones and uncomfortgasms. She has also been kind enough to set the very first Uncomfortgasm Challenge!
The idea behind this blog was to push myself out of my comfort zone as well as helping others do the same, so I’ll be asking lots of different people to come up with a challenge that we both have to complete and that will take us out of our comfort zones. It would be amazing to see lots of you take the challenges too.
Keep reading to find out what the first Uncomfortgasm Challenge is!

I’ve always told myself I wasn’t afraid of anything; including public speaking. I’d spoke to my local council as a child, asking them to build a skate park. I’d done presentations in uni and for work. Sure, I would always be nervous, but I wasn’t afraid… was I?
Just over a year ago, I went along to my first Toastmasters meeting in Leeds as a visitor.
If you don’t know what Toastmasters is, it’s basically an organisation you can join to improve your public speaking skills. They have clubs and meetings all over the world. Go check out their website if you want to find out more.

“Oh shit… What have I done… Maybe I shouldn’t have… What if things don’t work out… What will people think of me… This might be the stupidest thing I’ve ever done…”
These were the doubts going through my mind the night before my final day working for a corporate machine.
Rewind to a week ago. I’d spent a few weeks waiting for my employer to process my voluntary redundancy request. The offer finally came through and I accepted it (yes, they’re paying me to leave). I’m pretty sure it’s the best decision I’ve ever made, but it was far from easy.

Have you ever slumped down in your chair, felt an overwhelming sense of nothingness and thought to yourself…
What’s the point? What am I doing?
Well that’s exactly what happened to me in early 2014.
Before we go into that though, I’ll tell you a little about how I got there…
